Greyhound launches ITFC Foundation fund-raising push

We’re delighted to announce that The Greyhound has strengthened its relationship with the Ipswich Town Foundation and will raise money exclusively for the club’s charity this season.

As you probably know, we love raising cash for good causes, especially during our popular quiz nights and busy match days.

With more of you coming through the door (thanks!), we can now raise a lot more money by focusing on one charity that fits our ethos of helping the community and mental health awareness; both causes our customers will embrace.

The Foundation ticks these boxes, and we believe we can support it in several ways, not just fund-raising.

The pub joined the ITFC Foundation Day in April and donated money from certain burger and beer sales, raising over £1,000. If we can build on this, it will be amazing.

From Accrington to Moscow

Greyhound landlord Dan Lightfoot said: “I have been a season ticket holder for 25 years and still remember my first game in 1983! I’ve travelled from Accrington Stanley to Moscow in support of my club…..and in turn, the supporters do a fantastic job in supporting The Greyhound.

“To be regularly donating to a local charity which is also involved in ITFC is as perfect as it gets for me.  We can do loads for The Foundation, and I can’t wait for the first home game to start so we can begin raising money for them.

“The range of activities they support is incredible, from refugee football, dementia days, disability football days; there is so much the team can get involved in.”

Dan’s business partner and fellow Director, Ness Clarke, added: “Supporting the ITFC Foundation seems the natural fit for The Greyhound; the football days here are incredible.

“Dan (and his Twitter account, which he loves) has built a huge following of football fans for the home games, and it feels right to be giving something back.

“During my time in banking, staff would get paid days away from work to support local charities, which we want to replicate.  We’ll encourage the whole team at The Greyhound to get involved with the ITFC Foundation.

“Dan Palfrey and the team do an incredible job and have been hugely welcoming in getting us involved.”

‘Reinvesting into the community’

Dan Palfrey was thrilled with The Greyhound’s support.

“We’re delighted that The Greyhound has made the Foundation its charity partner,” he said. “We’ve seen an increase in local businesses actively becoming involved with the Foundation, which is amazing.

“We hope that through the partnership, this will raise more awareness of the Foundation and the work we’re undertaking in the community whilst also raising funds through various initiatives which will be reinvested into the community.”
